PICNIC

Dear North Mason Families,

There is a saying by Jean Baptiste Massieu, “Gratitude is the memory of the heart.” And, in the glow of looking back to earlier in the week, when our community came together to celebrate our district at our annual PICNIC, the word in the front of my mind, and in my heart, is GRATITUDE.

Despite the rain, our community resource partners came out to share valuable information and services with our families. Despite the rain, our families came out to celebrate the launch of the school year. Despite the rain, our staff and administration volunteered and assisted with making the event a success for everyone in our community. Despite the rain (and wind), our MLL Parent Committee prepared 500 ears of corn for the attendees. Our NMHS band and middle school teacher Oma Wilcox performed for the crowd with the backdrop of overcast clouds and rain.

"Things turn out best for people who make the best of the way things turn out."
John Wooden

I can’t thank you all enough for choosing to be here and for choosing to celebrate our district, our community, and our students. North Mason is a special place, and it was never more evident when I looked around the campus and all of you that had come to celebrate with us.

Thank you to the many staff who volunteered to make the event a huge success, our 30+ community resource partners (list and links to follow!), the food trucks Taqueria la Oaxaquena, Glitch Hotdogs, Seabecks Frozen Treats, and to all the local businesses who donated giveaways for our families: Local Wrench, Alderbrook Resort & Spa, Maddy’s Old Town Flowers, Scott McLendon’s Hardware, La Guatemalteca, Northwest Resources and of course a big thank you to Belfair Fruit Co. for supplying the delicious corn. We couldn’t have done this without all of you!

Now, we focus on looking ahead to the start of the 2024-2025 school year and partnering with all of you to create the best environment for our students. Each one of you is an integral part of our community and plays a pivotal role in the success of our students. For that, I am eternally grateful.

Dana Rosenbach, Superintendent
