Inclement Weather
We will do our best at notifying families by 6 am to Cancel or Delay school start time by two hours. If a two hour delay, buses will pick up students two hours later than normal.
- Schools may run on normal time but will be on Snow Bus Routes.
- Schools may need to do an early release if weather conditions worsen.
- If school needs to be cancelled, we will make up the school day on our snow day that is built into the district calendar. If we miss more days than built in snow days, NMSD would need to apply for a waiver to the state for the missed day(s); if the waiver is not granted, the impacted school(s) may be required to make-up the day(s) at the end of the school year.
- A late start/early release school day will count as a school day and will not be required to make it up at the end of the school year.
- We will communicate with you through ParentSquare, robocall, Facebook, district website and Twitter.
POWER OUTAGES
The decision will be made on a case by case basis and included in the decision will be whether or not Mason PUD 3 predicts the school will be without power for the majority of the day.
- We will communicate with you through ParentSquare, robocall, Facebook, district website and Twitter.
Weather is often unpredictable. But, on the occasion where there is enough advance warning of an extreme weather event that may result in closed schools, loss of power or water to the district, students will be expected to take their laptops home with them so we can switch to remote learning.
Any impact to school schedules due to weather will be communicated thoroughly, and with as much advance notice as possible, so that our families can prepare.
It is critical for North Mason School District to maintain the most up-to-date emergency contact information for our families. Please ensure that your child's school has your most current phone, email and emergency contacts.
