Staff Spotlight of the week!
Michelle is an amazing educator and ELA teacher at NMHS. She is in her 5th year of teaching for the NMSD, and her positive impact is clearly evident through the halls of this school. As an effective teacher, to say she is here for the students is an understatement. Michelle creates and maintains an environment of safety, respect, and high expectations. Students trust and know they can go to Mrs. Thornton for anything, yes, anything. A snack to get through 2nd period, weekend help with an assignment, career support, a listening ear because he/she had a difficult weekend, a person to process with, a lunch time spot that is safe, I could go on. In short, she is an incredible human being, and a phenomenal educator. I have learned so much from her, and I know wherever she is her students are better for having her.
Michelle es una excelente maestra. Ella es maestra de ELA en NMHS. Ella está en su quinto año de enseñanza para la NMSD y su impacto positivo es claramente evidente desde los pasillos de esta escuela. Como maestra eficaz, es fácil decir que está aquí para los estudiantes es quedarse corto. Michelle crea y mantiene un ambiente de seguridad, respeto y altas expectativas. Los estudiantes confían en venir a la clase de la Sra. Thornton para cualquier cosa, si es que tienen algo.
